FATA
MORGANA
inspired even the ancient Greeks. They compared the mirage with a fairy
of treacherous beauty. The spectacle is a phantasmal fairy tale about
the beginnings of the human race. Atlas carries the world on his shoulders.
Eve seduces him and the world explodes. Volcanic eruptions lead to the
first primitive life. Amphibians creep out of the water to be greeted
by insect-like creatures. Primal forces and instincts rule. Many strange
creatures appear: a giant balloon gives birth to a woman, a wormy love
couple makes the audience melt, a comic slimy green beast is trying to
find its legs, an elastic six armed creature is tossed in the air, Medusa
appears in the dark and eats them all. A giant butterfly announces the
dawn. A humorous love duet transform the creatures into people who surrender
to the beauty of the volcano. A treacherous beauty: a Fata Morgana.
Daredevil acrobatics, dance movements, humorous situations and mirage-like
shadow-silhouettes are the ingredients that are combined to form this
spectacle without a text. A spectacle for young and old alike. The story,
the mystery, the illusion, the physical risk taking and the generous dose
of humor make the performances of Corpus readily accessible, even for
an audience not versed in dance, movement or acrobatic theatre. Fata Morgana
is visited by an audience of all ages. It is played for schoolkids and
adults, as long as it is in a theatre.
